Since phase correlation relies on the Fourier transform, the thesis provides an overview of the Fourier transform for functions defined on R^2 and the discrete Fourier transform for functions defined on a finite grid {0,1,...,N-1}^2. It examines modifications to the phase correlation technique for estimating similarity transformation parameters between images and those captured using different sensors and optical systems.en
