Analýza zvukových prvků jazyka v textech písní hip/hopu (rapu)

Abstract

Tato práce zkoumá zvukovou stránku jazyka a další zvukové prvky v textech rapových písní a jejich působení na posluchače. Dále představuje neobvyklý způsob zvukové analýzy skrze vibrace a koncept rezonance. Původ rapu a jeho přední vlastnosti umožňují, aby se přistupovalo k jeho analýze skrze básnické prostředky obdobně jako u poezie. Smyslem této práce je prozkoumat zvukovou vrstvu rapových textů, poukázat na zdatnost a vynalézavost umělce a dále představit holistický náhled na hudbu. Kendrick Lamar je autorem dvojice textů vybraných k analýze na základě jejich kritického uznání a schopnosti do jisté míry předat myšlenku. Využitím fonosémantiky analýza nastíní, proč spolu některá slova souvisí už na úrovni jednotlivých fonémů a jakým způsobem může zvuk rozvíjet původní význam slov. Výsledek analýzy naznačuje, že rapeři, ať už intuitivně nebo záměrně, využívají fonosémantiku ve svých textech. Rozbor taktéž ukazuje, že konkrétní skupina fonémů se častěji vyskytuje v textech písní s ‚temnou‘ atmosférou, než by se vyskytovala v textech s opačným tématem. Z toho lze vyvodit, že rapová hudba je bohatá na zvukové prvky, které mají zásadní vliv na přenos emocí a posilují význam písní.

This thesis explores the sound shape of language and other sonic features in rap lyrics and their impact on listener. Subsequently, it introduces an unconventional way of sound analysis through vibration and the concept of resonance. Rap’s origin and prominent features allow to analyse its lyrics with similar approach through the figures of sound as it was poetry. The purpose of the thesis is to examine the sonic layer of rap language, emphasize the craftmanship and creativity of the artist and after that offer holistic perspective on music. The two lyrics samples suitable for the analysis, which both happen to be from the Kendrick Lamar, were chosen mainly for their critical acclaim and ability, to certain extent, to convey a message. By employing phonosemantics, the analysis provide insight, why certain words mutually correspond on the level of individual phonemes and how sound might expand the original meaning. The result of the analysis suggests that rappers either intuitively or on purpose utilise phonosemantics in their lyrics. The analysis also shows that certain group of phonemes occurs more frequently in the analysed song with a ‘dark’ atmosphere than it would in a song with the opposite theme. From these results it can be stated that rap music naturally abounds with sonic features as they play a key role in expressing emotions and reinforcing the meaning throughout the song.
