Abstract

In this article, a simple and efficient method is presented to design low radar cross section (RCS) patch antennas. This method consists of a hybrid optimization algorithm, which combines a genetic algorithm (GA) with tabu search algorithm (TSA), and electromagnetic field solver. The TSA, embedded into the GA frame, defines the acceptable neighborhood region of parameters and screens out the poor-scoring individuals. Thus, the repeats of search are avoided and the amount of time-consuming electromagnetic simulations is largely reduced. Moreover, the whole design procedure is auto-controlled by programming the VBScript language. A slot patch antenna example is provided to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.
