Abstract

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá vztah mezi architekturou, kapitalismem a prostorovými formami odporu, které vznikají mimo oficiální instituce – v městských ruinách, komunitních centrech a bezejmenných vizuálních gestech. Architekturu nepojednává jako disciplínu designu, ale jako prostor pro existenci, který buď umožňuje, nebo vylučuje. Nejde o hledání alternativ, ale o rozpoznání těch míst, která již alternativní jsou, jen zatím nejsou uznána jako relevantní. Na základě teoretických základů kritických urbanistických studií, filozofie prostoru, politické ekonomie a současné vizuální kultury analyzuje jeho práce, jak kapitalismus ovládá veřejný prostor nejen ekonomicky, ale i esteticky: prostřednictvím normalizace pravidel, jazyka vizuální hegemonie, přítomnosti reklamy a brandingu odporu. V tomto rámci přestává být architektura neutrální kulisou – stává se zprostředkovatelem volby, kurátorem přístupu, estetickým filtrem ideologie. Jádrem práce je případová studie františkánského kláštera na Římském náměstí v Brně – místa historicky spojeného s vymazanou židovskou přítomností, přepsaného na příkaz, marginalizovaného státem a ponechaného lhostejnosti trhu. Místa, které nikdy nebylo součástí plánovaného centra, ale vždy zůstávalo na okraji moci a pozornosti. Návrh komunitního centra v tomto prostoru se stává architektonickým gestem zpomalení, sdílení a každodenní péče – ne jako utopická vize, ale jako praxe přežití, která odmítá být přeložena do jazyka trhu. Místo není vnímáno jako kus země, ale jako médium vztahů: vrstevnaté, nedokončené, bezpodmínečné. Architektonická strategie není založena na programu, ale na neprogramovatelnosti. Místo nefunguje jako instituce, ale jako struktura náhodného soužití. Práce propojuje prostorové strategie squattingu, digitálního vernacularu a antikapitalistického designu s architektonickým myšlením, které se nebojí dysfunkčnosti, nečitelnosti nebo pomíjivosti. V opozici ke standardizované efektivitě, logice zisku a vizuálnímu smogu rozvíjí koncept „architektury bez hodnoty“ – místa, které je silné právě proto, že se nevejde do žádného investičního rámce. Projekt nevolá po změně systému, ale spíše po neúčasti na jeho rytmu. Odmítá být efektivní, krásný nebo reprodukovatelný. Odmítá být brandingem pro dobro. Je to architektura bez loga, bez identity, bez performance. Architektura, která se nedá spočítat. A právě proto může vydržet.

This diploma examines the relationship between architecture, capitalism, and spatial forms of resistance that arise outside official institutions—in urban ruins, community centers, and nameless visual gestures. It does not treat architecture as a discipline of design, but as a space for existence that either enables or excludes. It is not about searching for alternatives, but about recognizing those places that are already alternative, only they are not yet recognized as relevant. Through a theoretical grounding in critical urban studies, the philosophy of space, political economy, and contemporary visual culture, his work analyzes how capitalism controls public space not only economically but also aesthetically: through the normalization of rules, the language of visual hegemony, advertising presence, and the branding of resistance. In this framework, architecture ceases to be a neutral backdrop—it becomes a mediator of choice, a curator of access, an aesthetic filter of ideology. At the core of the work is a case study of the Franciscan monastery on Římské náměstí in Brno—a place historically associated with an erased Jewish presence, rewritten by order, marginalized by the state, and left to market indifference. A place that was never part of the planned center, but always remained on the margins of power and attention. The design of a community center set in this space becomes an architectural gesture of slowing down, sharing, and everyday care—not as a utopian vision, but as a practice of survival that refuses to be translated into the language of the market. The place is perceived not as a piece of land, but as a medium of relationships: layered, unfinished, unconditional. The architectural strategy is not based on a program, but on unprogramability. The place does not function as an institution, but as a structure of random coexistence. The work connects the spatial strategies of squatting, digital vernacular, and anti-capitalist design with architectural thinking that is not afraid of dysfunctionality, illegibility, or transience. In opposition to standardized efficiency, profit logic, and visual smog, it develops the concept of "architecture of non-value"—a place that is powerful precisely because it does not fit into any investment framework. The project does not call for a change in the system, but rather for non-participation in its rhythm. It refuses to be efficient, beautiful, or reproducible. It refuses to be branding for good. It is architecture without a logo, without identity, without performance. Architecture that does not count. And that is precisely why it can last.
