dc.description.abstractOptical circuits switching is a rapidly growing area of photonic networks. With increasing requirements of photonic services only software defined networking (SDN) allows flexible and effective networks creation. The paper shortly introduces technologies of optical circuits switching, especially WSS (wavelength selective switching) for WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) networks. Using specialized software VPIphotonics the WSS 1x4 for an interconnection between Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Vienna was designed.en
