- ItemContainer Construction - Identification Cost and Time Savings(Vysoké učení technické v Brně,Fakulta stavební, 2024-05-07) Tejgi, MichalConstruction from containers can be more efficient than construction from conventional building materials in a number of suitable applications. From an investor’s point of view, the cost and speed of construction are important parameters, while from the societal point of view, it is environmentally friendly since it recycles original shipping containers. The core of this article is a case study of container construction of a primary school in Slovakia. The case study presents life cycle costs which are compared and contrasted with conventional construction. The aim is to compare investment construction costs. Finally, the results are compared with international studies on the topic of the life cycle of modular container buildings, project investment and renewability of this type of construction.
- ItemBuilding Passportization and Information Model of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Brno(Vysoké učení technické v Brně,Fakulta stavební, 2024-05-07) Navrátilová, Vladimíra; Sudakova, KatsiarynaThis article describes the process of building passportization and the subsequent application of an information model for the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Brno. Given the high probability that the building documentation for these structures is outdated, updating the information becomes essential for future maintenance, renovation, and grant applications. The purpose of the article is to provide a description of the procedure for building passportization based on laser scanning technology and showcase the results of the scanning process of Building Z.
- ItemAssessing the Environmental Consequences of Phosphate Emissions in Civil Engineering Projects and Their Inclusion in the Lifecycle Costs of Buildings(Vysoké učení technické v Brně,Fakulta stavební, 2024-05-07) Federla, JakubEutrophication, characterized by rising levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, poses a significant risk to biodiversity. In civil engineering, the contribution of phosphate emissions to this process has been insufficiently addressed and requires detailed examination. This study evaluates both the environmental and economic impacts of phosphate emissions in civil engineering, with a focus on their integration into the lifecycle costs of buildings. Detailed analysis of 17 residential buildings in the South Moravian Region has quantified environmental harm, establishing an economic cost of 5000 €/t for PO43-. Environmental damage caused by phosphate emissions was monitored throughout the construction and operational phases of the residential buildings. The research reveals that the ratio of annual operating costs to external societal costs varies from 1% to 11%. Furthermore, the research reveals that annual negative externalities per square metre due to phosphate emissions fluctuated between 4.99 €/m² and 0.19 €/m². These higher externalities also correlate with increased annual operating costs per square metre. Variations were primarily attributed to the characteristics of the building envelope, construction materials, and energy sources. These findings underscore the need for incorporating ecological costs into fiscal planning, highlighting the importance of sustainable construction practices in mitigating environmental impacts.
- ItemComparison of Properties Currently Offered on the Real Estate Market and Their Problems(Vysoké učení technické v Brně,Fakulta stavební, 2024-05-07) Malečková, KateřinaThe current real estate market has experienced a major boom in recent years. The prices of real estate for housing have increased by several percentage points, and own housing is thus becoming less and less attainable for the general population. What has not disappeared from the market, however, are the problems that appear in housing units. The work deals with the survey of the offered units, revealing certain shortcomings and opens the topic where friction arises between the participants.
- ItemSurface Condensation on Windows and the Possibilities of Its Elimination(Vysoké učení technické v Brně,Fakulta stavební, 2024-05-07) Vorlíčková, Petra; Kalousek, Miloš; Pobucká, Slávka; Žajdlík, TomášThe largest thermal bridges are formed at the window joints. As a result of the increased heat flux, the internal surface temperature drops below the air saturation point. A conductive material applied on the interior side can be used as a remediation product. The correct choice of conductive material, type of masonry, and type of adhesive can affect the actual performance of the preparation. Using Ansys Steady-State Thermal software, the window sill detail of a double-glazed window with a wooden frame was analysed at the connection joint of the glazing and the frame.
