Abstract

Na severe Slovenska prechádzajú vidiecke sídla výraznou transformáciou v dôsledku suburbanizácie, preberania globalizovaných architektonických vzorov a postupného oslabovania regionálnej stavebnej kultúry. Príspevok skúma rezidenčnú stavebnú substanciu 20. storočia v mikroregióne Horná Orava, ktorá zostáva mimo formálnej pamiatkovej ochrany napriek svojmu významnému podielu na priestorovej a kultúrnej identite regiónu. Výskum kombinuje terénny prieskum viac ako 200 rezidenčných objektov v modelovej obci Štefanov nad Oravou s typologickou analýzou a kvalitatívnym expertným hodnotením. Skúmané sú tri vývojové vrstvy: tradičný zrubový dom, pozdĺžny murovaný dom prvej polovice 20. storočia a typizovaný rodinný dom druhej polovice 20. storočia.
In northern Slovakia, rural settlements are undergoing significant transformation due to suburbanization, globalized architectural patterns, and the gradual weakening of regional building culture. This paper examines the 20th-century residential building stock of the Horná Orava microregion that remains outside formal heritage protection despite its contribution to the region’s spatial and cultural identity. The research combines a field survey of more than 200 residential buildings in the model village of Štefanov nad Oravou with typological analysis and qualitative expert assessment. Three developmental layers are examined: the traditional log house, the longitudinal masonry house of the first half of the 20th century, and the standardized family house of the second half of the 20th century. The types are compared according to urban and architectural continuity, structural rationality, material appropriateness, cultural significance, and adaptability. The findings demonstrate that their value lies primarily in maintaining continuity between architecture, settlement structure, and landscape. The study therefore argues for a broader understanding of architectural heritage that also recognizes the values of everyday buildings without formal heritage protection.
