Economic Potential of Industrial Heritage in Pilsner Region

Abstract

Nové přístupy k městskému urbanismu a úsilí o zachování industriálních areálů jsou založeny na konceptu komplexity a obyvatelnosti prostředí. Tyto přístupy kromě vlivu designu a struktury na život těchto oblastí objevují také ve zcela novém kontextu možnosti místních komunit a vytvářejí prostor pro jejich další vývoj více udržitelným způsobem. Výzkum je orientován na podporu nového využití a ochrany industriálního dědictví, jsou vybrány příklady adaptací průmyslového dědictví v Plzeňském regionu a hodnocen jejich potenciál pro další kreativní využití.

Many aspects of urban design and new approaches to preserving industrial sites are based on the concept of liveability. These approaches recognise that design and structure can be very influential in the life of these areas but they also create novel contexts for a local community to develop in a more sustainable way. The purpose of this contribution is to highlight opportunities in the field of adaptive reuse of industrial heritage, examples of adaptive reuses of industrial architecture in Plzen and their potentials for the future development as creative incubators are discussed.
