The Impacts of Collectivization on Municipalities in the Foothills of the Beskydy Mountains

Abstract

Obraz moravských a slezských vesnic v druhé polovině 20. století zásadně ovlivnila kolektivizace. Sociální a majetkové změny se propsaly do celkového obrazu obcí. V příspěvku jsou zpracovány změny ve struktuře obce Palkovice, nacházející se v okrese Frýdek-Místek v Moravskoslezském kraji, s důrazem na pozici ovocných stromořadí, remízků a záhumenních cest, které definovaly obec v kontextu krajiny. Výsledkem kvalitativní analýzy historických map a dat je případová studie, jež pojmenovává příležitosti k obnově a rozvoji podobných sídel.The image of Moravian and Silesian villages in the second half of the 20th century was fundamentally influenced by collectivization. Social and property changes were reflected in the overall picture of municipalities. This paper deals with changes in the structure of the municipality of Palkovice, located in the district of Frýdek-Místek in the Moravian-Silesian Region, with an emphasis on the position of fruit alleys, hedgerows and roads that defined the municipality in relation to the landscape. Based on a qualitative analysis of historical maps and data, the result is a case study that identifies opportunities for the restoration and development of similar settlements.
