The project is aimed at analysing the thickness of vertebral cortical shell in medical CT data. As the cortical bone thickness is usually smaller than the spatial resolution of the scanner, it is impossible to base the analysis upon mere segmentation of the cortical bone. The proposed method uses rough segmentation to locate the cortical bone and then makes use of a machine learning technique with synthetic training data to analyse its thickness.en
