Abstract

Dystransmorfóza Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na osobní cestu transgender muže a reflektuje proměnu jeho těla i identity během tranzice. Skrze autorský umělecký projekt propojuje osobní zkušenost s širším zkoumáním genderové dysforie a společenských očekávání, která jsou kladena na transgender i cisgender muže. Práce tematizuje každodenní úpravy těla s cílem potlačit ženské rysy a ukazuje, že i přes obtíže existuje cesta k naplněnému a šťastnému životu trans osoby. Výstupem diplomového projektu je videoinstalace. V ní hraje ústřední roli video dokumentující proměnu těla v rámci hormonální terapie. Práce zdůrazňuje jedinečnost každého těla i nutnost péče o něj a otevírá prostor pro reflexi transgender identity. Součástí práce jsou také skleněné sochy, které symbolizují křehkost, ale zároveň odolnost a krásu transgender zkušenosti. Sklo, stejně jako člověk procházející změnou, může být zranitelné, ale zároveň si zachovává pevnost a jedinečnost. Instalace využívá tři obrazovky, které zohledňují přítomnost více perspektiv na tranzici a každodenní výzvy, jimž transgender muži čelí. Video je doplněno zvukovou stopou, v níž probíhá dialog mezi dvěma přáteli o otázkách genderu, tranzice a osobních bojů. Téma boje je přítomné v několika rovinách – jako vnitřní psychický zápas, životní výzvy, ale také fyzický souboj, jenž je reprezentován záběry kickboxu. Cílem práce je nejen přiblížit zkušenost transgender identity skrze osobní prožitek autora, ale také otevřít diskuzi o různých podobách genderové tranzice a jejich společenském vnímání. Projekt propojuje vizuální umění s intimní výpovědí a nabízí citlivý, nuancovaný pohled na složitost, křehkost i sílu, které jsou součástí této cesty.Dystransmorphosis This diploma thesis focuses on the personal journey of a transgender man, reflecting the transformation of both body and identity throughout his transition. Through an original artistic project, it connects personal experience with a broader exploration of gender dysphoria and the social expectations placed on both transgender and cisgender men. The work thematizes everyday body modifications aimed at suppressing feminine features, and shows that despite the challenges, there is a path toward a fulfilling and happy life as a trans person. The final output of the diploma project is a video installation. At its core is a video documenting the transformation of the body during hormone therapy. The work emphasizes the uniqueness of every body and the importance of self-care, while opening space for the reflection of transgender identity. The project also includes glass sculptures symbolizing the fragility, resilience, and beauty of the transgender experience. Like a person undergoing change, glass can be vulnerable, yet retains strength and individuality. The installation uses three screens, reflecting the presence of multiple perspectives on transition and the everyday challenges faced by transgender men. The video is accompanied by a sound recording of a dialogue between two friends discussing gender, transition, and personal struggles. The theme of struggle is present on several levels — as an internal psychological battle, as life challenges, and as physical combat, represented through kickboxing footage. The aim of this work is not only to bring the experience of transgender identity closer through the author’s personal narrative, but also to open a discussion on the various forms of gender transition and their social perception. The project connects visual art with intimate testimony and offers a sensitive, nuanced perspective on the complexity, fragility, and strength that are part of this journey.
