The Impact of Architectural Form of Residential Buildings on the Quality of Public Space

Abstract

The process of creating residential areas has changed over the decades by social and economic conditions. One of the important factors affecting the quality of public space, depending on their location, is an overall form of urban structure. The work focuses on the correlation of expressions form of the housing environment and associated public space. By three selected examples of residential structures in Bratislava, the paper attempts to explain the process of creation and function of interspace in linear areas. Common character of expression is rhythmic shifting of line objects and mass - spatial features. Knowledge of development and analysis of these residential complexes will allow us to understand their inner order and context within the creation of public spaces.Proces tvorby obytného prostredia sa v priebehu desaťročí menil podľa spoločenských a ekonomických podmienok. Jedným z dôležitých faktorov ovplyvňujúcich kvalitu verejného priestoru je celková forma urbanistickej štruktúry, v ktorej sa nachádza. Práca sa zameriava na koreláciu hmotového stvárnenia obytného prostredia a prislúchajúceho verejného priestoru. Na troch vybraných príkladoch obytných štruktúr z Bratislavy, sa snaží priblížiť proces tvorby a fungovanie medzipriestorov lineárnej zástavby. Spoločným nositeľom výrazu je rytmické radenie líniových objektov a hmotovo- priestorová charakteristika miesta. Poznanie vývoja a analýza týchto obytných súborov nám umožní pochopiť ich vnútorné usporiadanie a kontext v rámci tvorby verejných priestorov.
