Abstract

Stainless steels, especially AISI 304, are increasingly used civil engineering materials in the last years because they have excellent properties. They are used for many civil engineering structures e.g. chemical, energy, bridges etc. The presented study brings results of the observation of micro-structure and results on basic mechanical properties of AISI 304 steel. This steel, supplied in different profiles by different suppliers, can vary considerably, which must be taken into account when designing structures.
