Abstract

This paper deals with issues of battery electric vehicle charging. Key mechanisms are defined and the possibilities of charging station designs are presented. Active charging stations, their advantages and impacts on grid are discussed along with option of partial decoupling of the load from the grid, achieved by the application of energy storage elements – buffer accumulation. Furthermore, calculation methodology for operational cost analysis is proposed, programmed and the overall cost of the investment is discussed.
