FENECH, D. Návrh výukového experimentu pro předmět Aerodynamika I [online]. Brno: Vysoké učení technické v Brně. Fakulta strojního inženýrství. 2019.
Student elaborated thesis focused on complex submission coming from university environment. Based on hos previous knowledge from Aerodynamics I course (passed in the frame of Erasmus program) performed experiment in wind tunnel to prepare educational exercise for future students of Aerodynamics course et Institute of Aerospace Engineering. First he performed reverse engineering task and extracted data of scale model of airplane from 3D scanning. Then he performed full calculation of performance of model in given scale. Finally performed tunnel tests and compared results. Methodological approach and results of work are now base for next academic year experiment for students. Thesis Is on excellent level.

The bachelor’s thesis by Daniel Fenech is focused on preparation of the materials for Aerodynamic I. course. Author presents theoretical aerodynamic analysis of a model airplane and consequent experimental measurement in a wind tunnel. Since, the given goal of the thesis was focused on preparation of experimental measurement of the airplane aerodynamic characteristic, it is obvious that more goals were added during the work. The overall opinion on the theoretical part is that author was able to capture quite lot of principles of used analysis methods (panel method, Glauert’s solution of wing lifting line) what he was not familiar about prior the work on the thesis. The good example is an interpretation of the wing twist effect on the span-wise lift distribution. Unfortunately, author has not avoided some mistakes (e.g. obviously incorrect lift curve of tail unit). In the experimental part, author presents the results of measurement which differs significantly compared to theoretical ones. He suggests a list of possible causes of the differences in the results. The work is presented like a story rather than a technical text. Author describes whole process which led to presented results, even what button he pressed in particular computational tool. The results are often presented using print-screen of software environment. Therefore, the presentation of results is not unified and often unclear. Also mathematical formulas and expressions are incorrect quite often. Therefore, it will be difficult to apply the presented results as a material for mentioned course, what was the author’s intention. As a conclusion, I recommend the thesis for the final defense.
