| Informace k zadání | The thesis was related to development of method for analysis of brain EEG signals that could detect alcohol use disorder (AUD). The work was challenging because of the complexity of brain EEG signals and requirement to understanding of brain anatomy and physiology. The student developed a machine learning method to assess brain EEG signals and detect AUD. The resulting outputs are satisfactory and all the requirements of the thesis were met. | ||
| Práce s literaturou | The student reviewed many existing methods and techniques to detect AUD from brain EEG signals. Chapter 2 provides details of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, the various parts and functions of the brain affected by alcohol intake, the fundamentals of EEG, the datasets related to AUD, and the existing techniques for detection of AUD using brain EEG signals. The chapter provides the summary of gaps in the existing methods too. | ||
| Aktivita během řešení, konzultace, komunikace | The student had a very positive attitude and started working on the topic in the winter semester of 2024. I had weekly meetings with the student and she regularly attended the meetings. She worked hard and I found her to be focused. She was well prepared for the meetings. | ||
| Aktivita při dokončování | The student regularly consulted me before the submission of the thesis. The work was challenging because of the complexity of brain EEG signals which include many electrodes and requires extensive pre-processing. Also, there is a learning curve as its a multidisciplinary topic. The student was able to complete all the development in time and was able to submit the thesis within the give timeframe. | ||
| Publikační činnost, ocenění | The student has developed the method and the code is submitted along with the thesis. |
She’s done a good job overall and clearly understands her topic. Her methodology is solid and well thought out, which strengthens the work. Some parts of the report and explanations felt a bit brief and could benefit from more detail, but that’s quite normal at this level. With a little more effort and deeper discussion, she can definitely improve and take her work further.

| Náročnost zadání | The thesis tackles a moderately complex topic involving EEG signal processing for alcohol addiction detection, which is challenging for a bachelor-level student. it requires interdisciplinary understanding. Given the moderate difficulty, some minor shortcomings are acceptable, and the student has handled the challenge at a satisfactory level. | ||
| Rozsah splnění požadavků zadání | Overall, the main goals of the thesis have been met. The topic is well addressed, but the processing pipeline could have been explained in a clearer and more structured way. Still, these are minor issues, so I’d say the assignment is fulfilled with some small reservations. | ||
| Rozsah technické zprávy | The report is 58 pages long, which is slightly below the usual range but still reasonable for a bachelor thesis. The student didn’t overload it with unnecessary images—just used what was needed. The introduction is there, which is good, but summaries at the end of chapters are missing, and that makes the structure feel a bit incomplete. Still, the length overall seems fine and the content stays relevant. | ||
| Prezentační úroveň technické zprávy | 88 | Overall, the report is well-organized and fairly easy to follow. The chapters cover what they need to, but sometimes the flow feels a bit jumpy, and some explanations could be clearer. It’s a good effort, but there’s definitely room to polish a few parts for better clarity and continuity. | |
| Formální úprava technické zprávy | 89 | The report is nicely formatted and mostly free of errors, which makes it easy to read. The language is clear, but sometimes the explanations feel a bit brief—like they could’ve gone a little deeper, especially for academic standards. Still, for a bachelor’s thesis, it’s done pretty well overall. | |
| Práce s literaturou | 83 | She has picked good and relevant sources, and everything is properly cited without any issues. That said, the literature review feels a bit simple and could definitely be improved by adding more detailed discussion and critical thinking about the studies she mentioned. | |
| Realizační výstup | 89 | She developed her own solution from scratch, which is impressive. The system works as intended, though the documentation could use a bit more detail, especially on how the validation was done. | |
| Využitelnost výsledků | Results are okay but not quite ready for publication. If she wants to publish, she’ll need to improve and do more work. For now, they’re fine for the thesis. |
