STANISLAVOVÁ, V. Vliv biodegradace bioplastů na půdní vlastnosti [online]. Brno: Vysoké učení technické v Brně. Fakulta chemická. 2023.
The thesis "Influence of bioplastics biodegradation on soil properties” deals with a relatively new subject related to the use of biobased biodegradable replacement of conventional non-biodegradable plastics in agriculture. As the consumption of those materials is on rise, it is important to increase an awareness about their positives and drawbacks. As the preliminary data revealed issues with nutrients, the student used various carbonaceous amendments to eliminate those issues. Mrs. Veronika Stanislavová used several methods for the evaluation of the effects of poly-3- hydroxybutyrate´s particles on soil properties including enzyme analysis, above and belowground biomass production and thermogravimetry. Importantly, the student had to manage a number of approaches and methods, and the work indicates that she used them wisely. She presented the results of her research on 102 pages, she evaluated the obtained data and interpreted data in a logical and careful way, the work is written fluently in a readable form. In addition, she worked very well with literary sources (over 200 relevant citations). It can be concluded that the assignment of the work was fulfilled. In addition, I have to highlight diligence and patience of the student during the data elaboration, independence and frequent and fruitful consultation. As a result, give an overall grade of "A".

Diploma thesis Bc. Veronika Stanislavová focuses on the evaluation the impact of biodegradable plastics/microplastics on the soil ecosystem. Since they are considered as an “environmentally friendly” substitute for classic plastics and the knowledge about their effect on ecosystems is rare, I find this topic in the field of environmental protection to be very current and beneficial. The theoretical part provides a comprehensive overview of bioplastics (synthesis, source and their fate and influence on the soil ecosystem). Also, the chapter dealing with the soil ecosystem and soil quality indicators is very well prepared, it is based on a whole range of literary knowledge and provides material for the discussion of the results. The experimental part tries to assess the effect of P3HB degradation on the soil (and thus also on plant growth) through selected soil quality indicators, and at the same time assess the effect of the addition of organic amendments on the rate of P3HB biodegradation. For these reasons container experiments, where P3HB and other soil amendments (5 different) were used to monitor growth of the test plant Zea mays L. (via biomass) and selected indicators of soil quality (pH, soil dry matter, soil enzymes activity, soil respiration etc.). The obtained results are clearly presented through graphs and qualitatively discussed and compared with the findings of other authors. The entire work is very well designed. I can state that the presented work has a high professional level and brings new knowledge that could help to fill the gaps in the objective assessment of the impact of biodegradable plastics on the soil ecosystem. It is difficult to ask a question because the ones that occurred to me while reading the text were immediately answered in the discussion of the results. Some notes: In the list of abbreviations used, it is not necessary to indicate the element marks Fe, K, P etc. I miss abbreviations PBA, DHA and Arg there. Fig. 4 is done by yourself - I miss source citation. p. 23 PHAe separation – is phase separation? p. 36 is written: “The amount of TPF produced can be measured using calorimetry” – is this typing error? p. 60 missing chart links
