The life behind the monastery walls snatched Petr away from me and from our research at a point when he was already ready to write his thesis, and life was then reluctant to give him back. I am glad that Petr has now found a way to bring his work to completion. His results are still relevant today and even central to the field of string constraint solving, standing the test of time. I am firmly convinced that he deserves to be awarded his Ph.D.
In my opinion, the thesis and the students achievements until now meet the generally accepted requirements for the award of an academic degree (in accordance with Section 47 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on higher education institution).
The student demonstated that he is capable of independent and novel reseach in the notrivial area of logic-based solving, SMT, in particular. This have required skills both at the theoretical level but also at technical level. All the presented techniques were implemented in automated tools ( SMT solvers). Overall, the quality of the thesis and publications more than fulfils the requirements for a successful PhD thesis.
