Zoya’s master’s thesis confirmed all of my highest expectations and once again demonstrated her deep commitment, sensitivity, and thoughtful approach to architectural work. What makes this project particularly remarkable is the strong personal connection that Zoya brought to it. She focused on a railway line that has not only historical and urban significance but also personal relevance to her — it is the line on which her family has worked for generations, and the one she herself uses to travel from her hometown Ivančice to Brno. This deep-rooted connection significantly enhanced both the emotional depth and the quality of the project. Zoya’s personal story became an integral part of her architectural research. She conducted interviews with her relatives and their colleagues, and despite the practical difficulties of accessing many of the railway station buildings along the line, she independently found ways to document, measure, and analyze them with great care and dedication. From an urbanistic perspective, the project is especially compelling. Zoya approached the entire railway line as a continuous infrastructural and spatial system — a linear urban backbone around which her architectural proposals were developed. In this sense, the work offers an ambitious and relevant contribution to the discourse on infrastructure, mobility, and regional development. Historically, the project is also rich and insightful. Zoya carried out in-depth research on the architectural heritage of the Moravian railway network, tracing its development back to the Austro-Hungarian period. She successfully identified and analyzed the typological systems and standardized plans used to construct both technical and residential railway buildings. This typological investigation informed the conceptual framework of the project and contributed to a highly contextual and well-grounded design strategy. Equally important is Zoya’s respectful and delicate approach to this heritage. Her interventions are modest, precise, and contemporary, always seeking to highlight the historical qualities of the existing structures while giving them a new, functional, and comfortable life. She carefully balanced preservation with renewal, creating a series of architectural solutions that are both culturally responsible and spatially refined. The final outcome is a project of high graphic, technical, and architectural quality. For all these reasons, I enthusiastically recommend Zoya’s diploma project for the highest possible grade.

Analytical part The contribution of Zoja Doupovcová's thesis is, among other things, an extensive analytical part, which deals with the analysis of railway transport on the S41 line, an analysis of the problems and advantages of the regional railway, and an analysis of historical architecture in the process of standardization. The analytical part is richly supplemented with a graphic and photographic part, explaining the author's thoughts on the character and significance of railway transport in the overall context of the open landscape and the city. Design part The design part clearly explains the concept of the renovation of the railway station in Oslavany. The work deals with the restoration of historical details as well as new interventions. Architectural solution The chosen architectural form is simple and proportionally balanced. Operational solutions The graduate demonstrated her ability to master the typological solution of individual small buildings without any problems. Within the individual drawings, she demonstrated a high sensitivity to the solution of the restoration of small historical architecture and also creativity in finding new functional uses. Technical design solution The selected structures and details correspond to the typological content. The presented structural details are standard and correct. Formal level The formal level is very refined and corresponds to the required standards of a diploma thesis. It explains the essence of the intention simply and clearly. The analyses and new solutions presented are processed in sufficient quantity, they seem logical and understandable. The author's overall intention is very well understandable.
