Radek Možný started his doctoral study back in 2019 as double degree student between Brno University of Technology Czech Republic and Tampere University Finland. Radek’s dissertation thesis logical covers his official topic “Research on Communication Infrastructure of 5G Cellular Systems Operating in Sub-6 GHz Frequency Band“ as he discusses: (i) current state of the art of 5G-IoT technologies, (ii) cellular technologies for the intelligent industry networks, (iii) specifics and requirements related to the energy grids, (iv) performance assessment of the cellular IoT technologies (NB-IoT and LTE Cat-M), (v) latency and reliability improvements for 5G-IoT technologies for smart-grids. The key research outputs were published in known international conferences (IEEE VTC, IEEE WCNC, IEEE ICUMT, etc.) and especially in respected journals with impact factors (IEEE Internet of Things, Elsevier Internet of Things). The proposed research outputs were recognized not only by academia but also by industry, as the proposed communication improvements were successfully tested in real deployments (cooperation with electricity distributors and telecommunication operators in the Czech Republic). In his doctoral study, Radek improved his technical knowledge and presentation skills. From the supervisor’s point of view, Radek has fulfilled all the requirements defined by the double-degree study program, and I recommend his thesis for defense.
