The thesis focuses on an important and practically relevant topic in statistical quality control—specifically, the application of Laney’s p-charts in detecting process instabilities under conditions of overdispersion. The student demonstrates a solid understanding of both classical and advanced concepts in control chart theory, and successfully develops a simulation-based approach to evaluate chart performance under different scenarios. The theoretical background is presented clearly and thoroughly, and the implementation using Python and relevant statistical libraries is technically well executed. The structure of the thesis is logical and generally well balanced. While some parts of the text lean heavily on textbook material and could be more concise, the student manages to link theory with practice reasonably well. The simulation experiments are comprehensive, and the results support the conclusions drawn about the advantages of Laney’s approach in specific contexts. However, the analytical depth in the interpretation of results could be improved—for instance, by expanding the comparative discussion of methods or integrating stronger statistical argumentation. It is fair to say that more in depth discussion was rendered impossible by time constraints, and even presented version required significant "last-minute crunch". Stylistically, the thesis is mostly clear, though there is room to improve conciseness and sharpen the focus on the most impactful findings. The use of literature is appropriate, with correct citations and relevant references, though greater integration into the discussion would further strengthen the work. Overall, this is a competent and well-structured thesis with a solid methodological foundation and clear results. I recommend this thesis for defense with an overall grade C.

The presented master's thesis focuses on control charts, specifically the P-chart and Laney's P’-chart, which are used to assess the stability of processes based on attribute data. The first part of the thesis provides the theoretical background, including the construction of the P-chart and the modified Laney P’-chart (which is more suitable for evaluating processes with varying variability), as well as criteria for detecting process instability using control charts. In the introductory chapter, I would have preferred more concise and direct expressions. From my perspective, some paragraphs were overly long relative to the amount of information they conveyed. I would also like to point out a few minor shortcomings in the theoretical section. For instance, the definition of $R'_i$ on page 17 is missing, and I would have appreciated more commentary or explanation in the derivations. Nevertheless, all the necessary background on control charts was presented, enabling a clear understanding of the results discussed later in the thesis. In the second part, the student compares the performance of the charts across five different cases. The results obtained are meaningful, and I appreciate the extensive commentary and analysis provided. According to Thesis.cz, the similarity with existing documents is 5.1%. Overall, I consider the thesis to be of good quality, free of fundamental flaws, and I recommend it for defense.
