Malik, Aamir Saeed

The student has successfully completed the development of digital assessment of human social cognition and met all the objectives specified in the project description. The method not only assesses the cognitive skill with its two sub-domains but it also provides a user interface for visualization through database integration at the backend on the cloud.

Informace k zadání The thesis was related to development of digital assessment method for human social cognition which is one of the six cognitive skills defined in DSM-V by APA. The assessment is done both for Social Cognition and Theory of Mind. The work was challenging because it not only involved the development skills but also required understanding of cognitive skills from the perspective of human psychology. The student developed method to assess both the Social Cognition and Theory of Mind. The resulting outputs are satisfactory and all the requirements of the thesis were met.
Práce s literaturou The student reviewed many existing methods as well as the literature to understand the two sub-domains of the cognitive skill of human social cognition, namely, Social Cognition and Theory of Mind. Chapter 2 reviews the six cognitive skills in section 2.1, and provides details of the human social cognition with its two sub-domains in section 2.2. Section 2.3 discusses the existing methods to measure each one of them.
Aktivita během řešení, konzultace, komunikace The student had a very positive attitude and started working on the topic in the winter semester of 2024. I had weekly meetings with the student and she regularly came for the meetings. She was active, focused on her project, and worked with dedication. She came well prepared for the meetings.
Aktivita při dokončování The work was challenging because the development included backend database development on the cloud, frontend user interface development, and the visualization of the results. The student worked hard to complete all the development in time and she was able to submit the thesis before the deadline. She regularly consulted me before the submission of the thesis.
Publikační činnost, ocenění The student developed a method with both frontend and backend to assess human social cognition. The work was completed in time.

Náročnost zadání The thesis is not extremely large in scale, but the integration of psychological theory with machine learning using a real NLP pipeline makes this work distinctly above average in difficulty for a bachelor's thesis.
Rozsah splnění požadavků zadání The thesis fully meets the requirements of the assignment and even extends them in several areas. A minor limitation related to small dataset size exists and  this is not critical and can be reasonably expected at the bachelor level..
Rozsah technické zprávy The length of the report is fully adequate for a bachelor's thesis.
Prezentační úroveň technické zprávy 87 The technical report is clear in most parts and logically organized, but would benefit significantly from better transitions, language editing, and refined presentation of technical content.
Formální úprava technické zprávy 82 The thesis is readable and follows general formatting rules, but frequent language and typographic flaws detract from its overall professional presentation.
Práce s literaturou 90 The student demonstrates an adequate understanding of the topic and supports their work with relevant sources. The literature review meets the expectations of a bachelor’s thesis.
Realizační výstup 90 The software solution is ambitious and well-executed, particularly for a bachelor’s thesis. The student shows strong development ability and effective integration of machine learning in a real application.
Využitelnost výsledků The thesis is not merely compilational. While it is based on existing concepts such as the Faux Pas Recognition Test, Theory of Mind, and pre-trained NLP models (BERT) but,  the student applies these tools in a novel, interdisciplinary context.
