IVANOVÁ, L. Syntéza a aplikace přírodou inspirovaných materiálů pro fotokatalytické procesy [online]. Brno: Vysoké učení technické v Brně. Fakulta chemická. 2024.
Ing. Lucia Ivanová’s research is at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation, focusing on organic synthesis and artificial photosynthesis—key areas for advancing the current environmental goals. Her work introduces novel, vitamin B2-inspired materials that enable the photocatalytic production of green hydrogen and CO reduction, facilitating a clean, renewable energy source. By using sunlight to drive these photocatalytic processes, her research provides a breakthrough method for storing solar energy in molecular bonds, effectively supporting the decarbonization of energy systems. This innovative approach aligns with the EU’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions, promote green hydrogen production, and accelerate the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future. Ing. Lucia Ivanová is a highly motivated and talented Ph.D. student with a clear focus on a future scientific career. She combines the curiosity and drive of a researcher with the passion of an educator, eager to explore new topics that support multidisciplinary collaboration. Since her master’s studies, she has shown a strong commitment to international cooperation. Her motivation comes from a desire to help tackle important societal challenges, such as the energy crisis, human impact on the environment, and health protection. During her research she closely collaborates with our partners of the Danube Region, which is proved by common publications, patent application (PUV 2022-503; review process currently ongoing), projects (FWF Mobility CZ-AT and Aktion), workshops, and visits. Ing. Ivanová spent six months at the Linz Institute of Organic Solar Cells (LIOS) 2019 in the group of prof. N. S. Sariciftci, where she gained knowledge of the complex characterization of molecular properties and obtained knowledge about photocatalytic processes under the mentorship of in-the-field recognized scientist D. R. Whang, PhD (Hannam University, South Korea). Furthermore, she participated in the group of prof. Dominik Eder at Vienna University of Technology focusing on artificial photosynthesis, namely electrocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic processes for water splitting and carbon dioxide reduction and light-driven hydrogen evolution. In addition, she also received several awards, especially, she is also holder of the Josef Hlávka Award (a prestigious award for the best students or graduates of Prague universities, Brno technology and young researchers of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic) and the Holder of the Brno Ph.D. Talent Scholarship funded by Brno City Municipality. The student’s results are thoroughly documented in her dissertation and supported by 4 publications in peer-reviewed journals with impact factors. I would like to emphasize the significant contribution and involvement of the student in these publications. I can confidently state that the results achieved in her dissertation are of outstanding quality, in some aspects truly exceptional, and even groundbreaking in this field. I consider the results achieved by the student in her thesis to be highly valuable, original, and suitable for further application. I also commend her systematic approach to the assigned tasks and her strong work ethic. Lucia Ivanová has clearly demonstrated her creativity, expertise, and capacity for independent research. She has fulfilled all the necessary requirements for the successful completion of her studies. The thesis fulfills all the standards expected for this type of work, and I fully support it for defense.
