Ivana Labounková’s PhD thesis comprises three main areas. The first focuses on the application of data-driven approaches to uncover hidden information and the potential of retinal data. The results achieved are very promising and provide a strong foundation for further retinal research. The main outcomes were published in the top-ranking journal IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. The second part addresses the analysis of factors such as age, heart rate, and other physiological parameters on retinal pulsation phenomena. Results were published in Nature - Communications Biology. The third part describes the simultaneous acquisition of retinal video sequences and biosignals. The entire thesis is introduced by a comprehensive and detailed overview that effectively connects the necessary background research. Ivana has been actively involved in research, and her work has significantly contributed to the understanding of retinal pulsation phenomena. She approached this topic systematically, clearly defining the steps required to achieve scientifically relevant, interesting, and applicable results. Thanks to her efforts, and with the support of her team, she helped build a device that is currently used for acquiring unique multimodal data at the University of Minnesota. Based on the submitted work, I conclude that Ivana has fulfilled the objectives set out in her thesis and achieved excellent results, which she published in well-established journals and presented at scientific conferences. She approached the topic creatively, participating in experimental design, data collection, methodological development, and evaluation. This doctoral thesis fully meets the requirements for the awarding of a doctoral degree.
